New campsite open to the public

Posted in
A new campsite is open to the public along the Connecticut River, in the stretch of the river below Comerford Dam and above McIndoe Falls. Plan a fall trip on this beautiful section of the river. The campsite is located on a shady river terrace on the New Hampshire side of the river, across from the north end of Stevens Island. Constructed by the volunteers, and stewarded by the Vermont River Conservancy and the Stevenson Family, the campsite is on privately owned land generously opened to the public by a private landowner. It is about 1.5 miles below the confluence with the Passumpsic River. A picnic table, box privy, and register box has been installed, and wayfinding signage installed should help paddlers locate the site from the river. There is room for three tents. Suggested donation for use to offset stewardship costs: $5/person/night. (Donation box installed on site). Learn more at http://www.connecticutriverpaddlerstrail.org/node/415
